* Many houses in St Dogmaels were fishermen's cottages nestled into the hillside, some with access only by footpath. The village footpath network reflects this and gives an unusually intimate feel for the village.
* The Village Festival is held during first 2 weeks of May, with high profile concerts and activities.
* A Shakespeare play is enacted within the Abbey grounds during first week of August (there are also other open air plays performed in Cilgerran Castle and elsewhere locally during the summer)
* A Medieval Fair is held in the Abbey grounds on August Bank Holiday Mondays.

Poppit Sands Beach, 1 mile away is a Blue Flag expanse of sandy beach, backed by dunes with café, accessible toilets, lifeboat station with lifeguard facilities in the summer season. Excellent geological formations accessible at low tides. Level access.
Mwnt Beach, 20 mins drive is a National Trust owned small and secluded sandy beach, down many steps with kiosk and toilets. The headland, with it's 15thc church, is also a good place for watching dolphin and chough.
Ceibwr Bay Beach, a 20 minute drive or local bus journey to Moylegrove, a unspoilt secluded rocky cove with pebble beach, amazing cliff formations and views but has no facilities. The cliffs here are considered a good place to go to watch the sunset.
Entertainment The Cellar bar (Y-Seler) is the Castle Café by
day. In the evenings it's a music venue, good value

Walking
This is our most recommended activity for St. Dogmaels, there are lots of interesting walks that can be tailored to different interests, energy levels and ability. The Pembrokeshire Coast Path starts about 150m from Argo Villa, one nearby section overlooks a beach where we once counted 134 seals relaxing below us.

These range from the National garden to country gardens and farmhouse cheese producers to ancient standing stones, the source of the Stonehenge Circle stones and a very good value local summer rock music festival.
